NFL Predictions- 2010 Week 9

2010 NFL Predictions- Week 9

A bit better last week going 8-5 SU and 9-4 ATS. Lets see if we can stay on the plus side this week or not. Season records are now 65-52 and 54-63.

FALCONS (-8.5) over Buccaneers- Tampa has certainly been a surprise, but statistically they are defying the odds most weeks. Atlanta is a good team that has a tendency to play down which makes the point spread a little scary, but this is a divisional game so they should bring their best game to the table. Falcons 31 Buccaneers 20

Dolphins (+5.5) over RAVENS- These Ravens are definitely not the same type of home team they have been in the past and will matchup against a very strong road Dolphins team. The lack of scoring scares you a bit from Miami, but if they don't turn the ball over excessively they will be in the game at the end. Ravens 24 Dolphins 20

Bears (-2.5) over BILLS- The Bills are certainly trying hard and I'm pretty sure a lot of people have this as an upset special, but the Bills have been putrid on defense at home and you have to beat Chicago by not missing the turnover opportunities, something that Buffalo does not do well. Bears defense is too much. Bears 23 Bills 13

Saints (-7.5) over PANTHERS- I'm afraid of the Saints with a big number off a win because they are so inconsistent and these lines are still based off how they played in 2009, but statistically they should not have a problem with Carolina, who simply does nothing good. Saints 24 Panthers 10

Patriots (-4.5) over BROWNS- The good old return of the Mangini/Belichick matchup. Mangini is always solid in preparation off a bye, but New England is so much better and will look to run up a score to cover any spreads that they should not pull off any upset here. New England has a clear road to a first round playoff bye if they keep things up. Patriots 28 Browns 17

LIONS (+3.5) over Jets- I know the Jets are the better team, but the Lions are playing good football and always have potential for the backdoor cover. It's hard to read the Jets on the road because their road games have been against awful opponents. Numbers say the Lions could pull off an upset, but more likely lose a close game. Jets 23 Lions 21

Chargers (-1.5) over TEXANS- The Chargers are winless on the road, but the Texans are so mistake prone on defense that they wont likely benefit the way other teams have from Charger dumb mistakes. San Diego has way too many weapons for Houston. Chargers 33 Texans 24

VIKINGS (-8.5) over Cardinals- The Vikings season has gone out of control, but most people should forget about that for one week when the woeful Cardinals come in for a visit. Vikings 29 Cardinals 10

SEAHAWKS (+5.5) over Giants- The Giants may be the best team in the NFC and Seattle may have a no name QB playing this week, but the travel to Seattle is never easy for a team. The one worry here is that the Giants should have a high probability of winning but not covering, however the Seahawks history says they either win or lose big. Maybe the QB makes the difference. Giants 27 Seahawks 23

RAIDERS (-2.5) over Chiefs- Who would have ever thought these two would be playing a meaningful game against one another in week 9? Certainly not me. Oakland looks to be peaking right now while the Chiefs have been solid all season long. Home team is the better team right now. Raiders 27 Chiefs 20

Colts (+2.5) over EAGLES- Something seems wrong with this line so maybe there is something up that nobody knows about, but unless the Colts defense implodes, which has happened twice this year on the road, you have to like the Colts, who are the better team. Colts 29 Eagles 26

Cowboys (+7.5) over PACKERS- Dallas has to at least give it one last shot before they finally give up on themselves. This is a huge line for a team that should at least be competent defensively. Packers 24 Cowboys 17

Steelers (-4.5) over BENGALS- Maybe the Steelers were simply looking ahead to this game last week when they stubbed their toe in New Orleans. We knew the Bengals were not that good last season and everyone knows it now. Steelers 23 Bengals 16
