2010 NFL Predictions- Week 5

Lets not even discuss last weeks disaster. The record now stands at 35-27 and 24-38. At least these predictions cant get much worse.

Broncos (+6.5) over RAVENS- I personally hate picking against Baltimore at home, but the Broncos have been playing better than expected and the Ravens don't look to have the offensive firepower to cover this kind of spread just yet. They should win but not by 7. Ravens 17 Broncos 14

BILLS (+1.5) over Jaguars- Very hard to predict because both teams are bad and the sample size is so small that the stats are probably still skewed. Buffalo can't be as bad as last week and the Jaguars likely have some small letdown. Jaguars 21 Bills 20

Bears (-2.5) over PANTHERS- Yes Todd Collins is no Jay Cutler, but the Bears offense has been unproductive this year anyway and against a team like this Collins is a capable backup. Carolina is going to give it their all but Chicago's defense is too strong for the young rookie QB. Bears 17 Panthers 9

Buccaneers (+6.5) over BENGALS- The Bengals are basically the exact same team as last year, thus far, except people are finally realizing that QB Carson Palmer is nothing more than an average at nest starter in the league. Tampa should at least give them a game. Bengals 23 Bucaneers 19

Falcons (-3.5) over BROWNS- Can anyone figure the Falcons out? Probably not, but they bring too much to the table to not beat the Browns. Of course I thought that last week as well and they were lucky to escape with a win. Falcons 24 Browns 16

Rams (+3.5) over LIONS- Very tough game to call because the Rams stats are almost all based on playing at home and things often change on the road, especially with a rookie QB. One thing is for certain---both teams are much better than last year. Rams 23 Lions 17

TEXANS (-3.5) over Giants- Houston plays not defense which could make this a fun game to watch. The Giants move the football but right now are so mistake prone that it is hard to see them pulling off the upset. Texans 27 Giants 23

Chiefs (+8.5) over COLTS- As I said in the efficiency ratings after 4 that I would expect the Chiefs to fall way down at some point, but right now they are playing a high level of football while the Colts are not playing great. If the Chiefs are for real they win this one. Chiefs 26 Colts 23

Packers (-2.5) over REDSKINS- Green Bay pulled up lame last week and barely won their game, but the Redskins are a terrible offensive team and have shown little ability on that side of the field despite the presence of Donovan McNabb. If you can not score you cant keep up with Green Bay. Packers 24 Redskins 16

Saints (-6.5) over CARDINALS- Arizona's defense is so bad that if the Saints do not put up a big score this week than nobody will trust them to do so again this week. New Orleans is incredibly mediocre but will use the easy schedule at the start of the season to stay right at the top of the playoff hunt. Saints 30 Cardinals 13

Titans (+6.5) over COWBOYS- Tennessee is a hard team to figure as the QB is so bad and so untrusted that they are only winning if the other team makes a ton of mistakes, which seems to have happened often enough this season. Dallas has certainly been mistake prone and will have to prove that they have changed their ways for at least another week before the stats shift in their favor. Titans 21 Cowboys 17

Chargers (-6.5) over RAIDERS- San Diego has all kinds of problems away from home, but if they can not get up for another divisional opponent then the Chargers hopes of repeating their run at the top of the west may soon come to an end. Chargers 33 Raiders 17

Eagles (-3.5) over 49'ERS- San Francisco has to win a game eventually, and maybe they turned a corner last week, but they have been one of the worst teams in the NFL over the first quarter of the year. This may be QB Kevin Kolb's last chance to quiet his critics. Eagles 28 49'ers 13

JETS (-4.5) over Vikings- Randy Moss is back in Minnesota, but he is going to a team that cant play offense right now. The team he left, an offensive powerhouse, only scored 14 on these Jets a few weeks ago. Jets 20 Vikings 7
